This project involved constructing a new deck designed to maximise usable outdoor space while complementing the surrounding yard.

The property originally had a covered concrete patio that served as the home’s only outdoor entertaining area. By extending the structure and building a new timber deck over part of this area, we were able to significantly increase the amount of functional outdoor space available to the homeowners.

Treated timber framing was installed to create a strong structural base before high-quality decking boards were laid and aligned carefully for a clean finish.

By extending beyond the original patio footprint, the project increased the home’s usable entertaining area by approximately 20m², creating both covered and open deck spaces suitable for different weather conditions.

Attention was given to spacing, alignment and finishing details to ensure the deck performs well through the changing seasonal conditions experienced in the Canberra region.

The result is a durable and practical outdoor entertaining space that expands the usability of the backyard while maintaining a clean and cohesive appearance.
